Share Aperture’s mission is to put a camera in the hands of individuals in low-income and resettled populations around the world, giving them an opportunity to tell their stories through photography from a personal perspective. We also provide training through our partnerships for the next generation of photojournalists.
Our concept is broken in two parts. Our board chooses between 50-100 candidates a year. Share Aperture’s dedicated staff will reach out to an organization or individual who has nominated someone or themselves.
The nominee will then be asked to write a short essay detailing why they should receive a camera and training. We will then setup three courses in beginners photography with an instructor.
"Photography is a reality so subtle that it becomes more real than reality.” - Alfred Stieglitz
